The all-new Type R

The Type R is a redesign of the classic Randee Saddle. The Type R saddle is designed for long hours in the saddle. It was designed for you Randonneuring riders that log a thousand miles over a long weekend. This saddle was also designed for riders to be very comfortable on the bike. The Type R has a short nose section to aid with nerve pressure relief, a deep relief channel, and an air directional vane to help direct cooling air toward the rider’s crotch.
Designed more for a less aggressive bike setup, the rear is 148mm wide with a long broad curve for easier hip rotation. For gravel riders, the seat rail height has been increased for more clearance. This seat is the King on those gravel roads giving an added suspension to your bike. If you’re a larger rider, this saddle gives you a lot of room and for riders that have no drop or a +rise setup on the aero bars, this is your seat whether it be for a Sprint or an Ironman, you will like this.

This is one of the saddles that I would trial during a retul bike fit if the client has issues with soft tissue pressure and they also seem to have a wider pelvis structure. The unisex Cobb Randee saddle seems to be particularly successful with female cyclists as both a road bike saddle and a time trial saddle.The large circular cut out provides significant pressure relief in the road bike position for women struggling to find a saddle that reduces pressure on their soft tissues. The channel through the nose region of the saddle provides the same pressure relief in the triathlon and time trial positions. The grooved region allows the pelvis to rotate forward without crushing any soft tissue. John Cobb spent over two years developing the all new cobb cycling Randee saddle. “Randee” is short for Randanneur, designed for long distance riders, riders that goes out and ride several hundred miles over a weekend and Gran Fondo riders that like to put in hard fast miles. This short nosed saddle uses a new base design and new material selections. This gives the saddle unmatched adjustability and a wide 155mm rear support area. The nose is only 48mm wide so that as the rider positions themselves “just off the front” on this seat, there is no chaffing but plenty of pressure relief and support. Lightweight at 306gr. especially compared to the favorite “leather” saddles, this new saddle has a deep curved rear that makes it be a great choice for Ironman racing or all day touring.
