Custom Bike Build – Merida Reacto

This custom bike build began on a Merida Reacto frame in the colours of Bahrain Mclaren. Designated to be equipped with economic performance in mind, this bike was a certainly pro peloton inspired build.

The bike is equipped with SRAM latest Red AXS groupset, using electronic shifting, the 12-speed drivetrain provides gear ratios that are both higher and lower than what would be offered on a comparable 11-speed system. SRAM AXS also offers the SRAM HRD disc braking system, providing the best in braking in terms of braking control and stopping power.

The Merida is rolling on Pirelli’s P-Zero tubeless tyre, offering reduced rolling resistance and more comfort, especially when coupled with the Zipp 303s wheel. The wheels feature a wider internal rim, allowing for a better tubeless experience through lower tyre pressures.

The bike features an integrated steering system, specifically the ACR system from FSA, providing a smarter internal cable routing solution, as the stem and handlebars are still separate components, making them easier to interchange than a true one-piece design.

The Merida Reacto frame is an aerodynamic platform that can be equipped for several different roles. This bike has been outfitted aggressively, evident with the choice of an integrated steering system.

Biomechanically, this bike, being so aggressive has some special considerations factored in after the original bike fit. These include the 165mm cranks, allowing for a more open hip angle, as well as accomodating the seat tube angle compared to the previous bike. This also influenced the saddle choice and placement, both different from the previous bike.

Overall, this bike will go fast, thanks in part to both the componentry choices, but also the biomechanical considerations that had to be made to suit this frame to the rider.
